Sri Krishnadevaraya University had its beginning as the Postgraduate Centre of Sri Venkateswara University in 1968. It has gained autonomy in 1976. Fulfilling the wishes of the people in the region was given the autonomous status of the Post Graduate Center of the University in 1981. Initially functioned as a unified Sri Krishndevaraya University residential university. It was conferred university status of an affiliate in 1987. Currently it is on the higher needs of the revenue districts of Anantapur and Kurnool catering.
The Post Graduate Center, Kurnool was brought under the jurisdiction of the University in 1993. Post-graduate courses and research programs in progress at the University at University College, Anantapur, and at the Post Graduate Centre, Kurnool offered. The University College offers 38 post graduate courses through 28 departments. 11 in graduate courses are conducted at the PG Centre, Kurnool to 8 departments. Sri Krishnadevaraya University is the cause of higher education contribute to 112 degrees related universities, of which 7 are provided exclusively for women.
