Acharya Nagarjuna University is one of the universities in the region of Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, India. It is one of the most important universities of the country, many universities and institutes of the various districts in the region. It is in Nagarjuna Nagar, on the northern part of the Guntur City, a major center for learning in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
The university is an outgrowth of a Post-Graduate Centre of Andhra University, which was established in 1967 in Guntur Nallapadu area and then Nambur / Kaza transferred territory to the east of the city. The Centre won affiliate university status in 1976 and opened with ten post-graduate courses. The university is under Acharya Nagarjuna, the founder of the Madhyamaka called per-path of Mahayana Buddhism.
